You Don't Need To Believe It You don't need to believe it It's already true You don't need to believe it If it’s happened to you My heart's a bloodbath My belly’s a snake pit My brain's a can of worms I can't believe that you could do this to me After all we’ve been through I can't believe that you would do this to me After all this time You don't need to believe it It's already true You don't need to believe it If it’s happened to you My memory's a bombsite My hopes are shipwrecked My dreams are a horror show I can't believe that you could do this to me After all we’ve been through I can't believe that you would do this to me After all we’ve said After all we’ve done Mid 8 Your disbelief will only hurt you more Will only feed your pain The truth if you can hear it now The truth will help you heal Will help you love again You don't need to believe it It's already true You don't need to believe it For it to happen to you I know you don’t believe it, but You don't need to, you don't need to You don't need to believe it It's already true My nerves are glitching My mood is crashing My spirits are shorting out

Recipe for Disaster Hey beer boy She needs a hero He's gotta be sure and He's gotta be strong Hey beer boy She needs the power of love To lift her up Where she belongs She wants a knight A knight in shining armour Not some shite in a grimy Barbour She wants a fairy tale romance Not some kitchen sink drama With all the ingredients Of a recipe for disaster Hey Sue Ellen You don't need a kebab You need a detox And to rehab after So get your roller skates on And your leotard Take your 80s mix tapes and your ghetto blaster Before you met this good for nothing Before you fell for his love bombing We said, we said we saw this coming Before the tears they started flowing Before the bruises started showing We said, we said where this was going You are moonwalking with danger You’re flashdancing with bad fate You've gotta get out before it's too late She wants a knight A knight in shining armour Not some shite dressed as a gentleman farmer She wants a musical romance Not some kitchen sink drama With all the ingredients Of a recipe for disaster

about

RockCounsellor is the alias of Camden, England based songwriter, musician, and addiction therapist, Thoby Burton. ‘You Don’t Need to Believe It’ is his new EP featuring three brand new songs recorded in collaboration with producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, Richard Campbell.

The EP’s title track, ‘You Don’t Need to Believe It’, is a break-up song inspired by stories Burton hears in his work as a psychotherapist, and specifically about the defence of denial which can keep us from feeling loss and beginning the process of grieving. Track two, ‘Losing Battle’, is a song about the frustration of communicating with difficult people, and track three, ‘Recipe for Disaster’ is a song about the toxic relationship of two addicts, which continues Burton’s predilection for peppering his songs with 80s cultural references.
